2025-2026 Season Schedule

September 14, 2025

HI Everyone,

The start of the 2025-2026 Season is coming up soon along with a busier time in everyone's schedule.  Swimming will officially start the week of September 8-12 with free assessments being offered at either 4:00pm or 4:45pm each day of that first week.  The first week will seem quite chaotic as everyone finds their groove and coaches make their adjustments to swim groups. Attached to this email is a year-at-a-glance scheduled with all of the information we have available at this point in time.  As new information becomes available we will update this calendar and it will be available to view on our website.  The website will also have more information in the "Events" tab for those who are looking.  We just wanted to highlight a couple of things about this next season and some of the programming options that are available and changes that have been made:

1. Orca Swim School Level 1 and Level 2 - This season we will be offering two levels of Orca Swim School, currently scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays.  Level 1, a 30 min class, is designed for swimmers under 8 years of age who are comfortable in the water but new to the swim club environment.  Focus will be on building the foundations of front and back crawl and building endurance. Level 2, an hour long class, is designed for swimmer 6+ years of age who have completed as session of swim school in the past and are looking to build on their skills.  Both of these programs are designed to be an introduction to the swim club program to help swimmers transitions to the mainstream program. Swimmers must be comfortable in the water on their own and should complete an assessment before registering.

2. Highschool Swimming - High School swimming is a fitness and social-based program designed to provide a place for high school students to participate in swimming with lower commitment. The program will focus on the fundamentals of swimming, the four speed swimming strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Freestyle), and building endurance. Ideal for international students, students who participate in other sports and are looking to build their strength and endurance, and any high school student hoping to participate in high school swimming in the Fall school semester. This program is offered on Fridays from 4-5pm and available in sessions (Sep-Dec, Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun) to help accommodate those with busier schedules.  Previous swim club experience is NOT required.

3. Swim with An Olympian - We’re excited to announce that Ladysmith Chemainus Swim Club (LCSC) will be hosting Annamay Pierse, Canadian Olympic Breaststroker and former world record holder, for a special event Oct 24-25, 2025. This is a unique opportunity for swimmers and coaches to learn from one of Canada’s most accomplished athletes in competitive swimming. Annamay will share her journey, insights into high-performance training and goal-setting, and lead an engaging session with our athletes both in the classroom and in the swimming pool.  Below are the details about the upcoming session and registration information will be available shortly.

4. Fee Structure - For those of you who have already registered you may have noticed LCSC has implemented a new payment structure, breaking the annual fees down into 4 payments throughout the season rather than monthly payments.  This change was implemented to reduce the workload for the volunteer treasurer and reduce some transactions fees.  The Board is hoping that reducing the number of payments will assist with planning for the season, allow for the workload to be more manageable, and streamline the $200 fundraising commitments (swim challenge and raffle) as they are built into the fees. The fee schedule is as follows:

1st Payment - September 1-30 (depending on registration date)
2nd Payment - November 15 (include fundraising)
3rd Payment - January 15 (include fundraising)
4th Payment - March 15

If this change creates a financial barrier preventing you from registering your swimmer(s) you please email us at ladysmithchemainusorcas@gmail.com to discuss options.

5. Club Social Events (Pink in the Calendar below)- Finally, we have added a several social events throughout the season to help foster a sense of community.  More information about these social events will be provided as we get close to the event.  Please connect to the "Event" tab on our website and follow our social media site to stay up to date with activities.  The following events are coming up this month:
