Canada Games Arrive in St. John’s, NL: LCSC Swimmer Colton Gonzales to Make Waves for TeamBC
St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador – August 8–25, 2025
The City of St. John’s is thrilled to host the 2025 Canada Summer Games, Canada’s largest multi-sport competition, bringing together over 4,800 young athletes from all 13 provinces and territories to compete in 240 events across 17 sports.
Among them, Colton Gonzales, a standout swimmer from Ladysmith Chemainus Swim Club, will proudly compete for Team BC, diving into the pool and showcasing his talent on the national stage.
This edition of the Games promises fierce competition across a wide range of sports, from swimming and athletics to the debut of women’s baseball, all hosted in venues across St. John’s and surrounding communities—including the Fortis Canada Games Complex and Memorial University’s Aquarena and athletic facilities

About the 2025 Canada Games
The 2025 Canada Games mark the 16th Summer edition and the second hosted in St. John’s (the first in 1977), with 240 events across 19 disciplines spanning all provinces and territories. Events will take place at over 22 venues including Mary Brown’s Centre (ceremonies), Fortis Canada Games Complex, Quidi Vidi Lake (canoe/kayak), and Memorial University campus facilities.
