Assessment Booking for 2026/27 Registration

All prospective new swimmers must be assessed before registration. Please choose a time slot under the job list that works for you and your swimmer.  If you are unable to attend any of these times please email the club to arrange an alternative time.

All swimmers participating in an assessment MUST be comfortable in the water on their own and able to swim at least 5m. 

AVAILABLE BOOKINGS HAVE A GREEN "AVAILABLE" NEXT TO THE TIME SLOT

  • Assessments are 10 minute sessions where a coach will observe the swimmer
  • Following the assessment the swimmer will be assessed to an appropriate group for registration
  • Families will be given group assignment and a registration access code.

Swimmers will be assessed for the Swim School Program, Developmental Program (B Pod, Winter Maintenance, High School Swimming/SwimFit) and Intermediate/Advanced programs (B pod, S Pod, G1 Pod, G2 Pod, D1 Pod, and D2 Pod).

Swim School 1:

  • Swimmers born 2018-2021
  • 1 weekly 30 minute practice for approximately 10 weeks
  • 2 options to choose from Mondays 4-4:30pm or Wed 5:00-5:30pm
  • Minimum requirement: swimmers must be comfortable in deep water, and swim 10m on their front and back

Swim School 2:

  • Swimmers born 2014-2018
  • 1 weekly 60 minute practice for approximately 10 weeks
  • 2 options to choose from Monday 4:30-5:30pm or Wed 4:00-5:00pm
  • Minimum requirement: swimmers must be able to swim 25m Freestyle with proper side breathing and 25m Backstroke 

High School Swimming/Winter Maintenance

  • High School Swimmers born 2009-2013 (for fitness or to participate in High School Swim Season)
  • 1 weekly 60 minute practice in approximately 10 week sessions
  • Currently Fridays 4:00-5:00pm*alternative options may be available upon approval of head coach*
  • Minimum requirement: Ability to swim all four competitive strokes with knowledge and complete a 100 IM.  Participation in High School swim competitions is available but not required.
     
  • Winter Maintenance available for swimmers looking to maintain their fitness between Summer Swimming seasons.
  • 1-2 weekly 60 minute practices Sept-Apr
  • Currently Fridays 4:00-5:00pm *alternative options may be available upon approval of head coach*
  • Minimum requirement: must be 10+ years of age and have been registered with BCSSA for the 2026 season

Competitive Development

  • Swimmers born 2008-2019
  • 2-5 weekly practices of 45-90mins per practice
  • Various days to choose from
    • B Pod 2 x 45mins
    • S Pod 3 x 45mins
    • G1 Pod 2 x 90mins
    • G2 Pod 3 x 90mins
    • D1 Pod 4 x 90mins
    • D2 Pod 7 x 90mins 
  • Minimum requirement: Show ability to swim 25m continuously with both front crawl and back crawl and attentively follow instructions. While participation in swim competition is not required B and S Pods are encouraged to participate in novice and unsanctioned swim competitions offered in Ladysmith and Duncan while G1 Pods and higher recommended to participate in regular swim competitions throughout the island.
